Therapeutic Exercises

Therapeutic exercises are used to correct a variety of impairments and help improve musculoskeletal function. Therapeutic exercises may be restricted to specific parts of the body or muscle areas and can often help restore a patient’s physical functionality and peak conditioning. Types of therapeutic exercises include endurance training, resistance training and flexibility training. Regardless of how much injury or trauma a patient is facing, the ultimate goal of therapeutic exercises is to return a patient to his or her peak physical condition. Therapeutic exercises are often useful for athletes recovering from injury. This includes both improved strength, but also peak endurance and top flexibility.

Therapeutic exercises can accomplish many goals, including:
  • Release contracted muscles
  • Reduce stiffness
  • Improve circulation
  • Encourage relaxation
  • Boost respiratory capacity
  • Correct balance
  • Energize exercise performance
